The pressure sensor MPL3115A2 from Freescale is a low-cost sensing solution for precision measurement of barometric pressure and altitude. It has a typical resolution of 1.5 Pascal, which can resolve altitude at 0.3 meters. It has interrupt outputs for ultra-low power usage, and altitude calculation is built in and calibrated. As this chip accepts 2 V to 3.6 V power and logic voltages only, the breakout board provides logic level shifting and a 3V regulator. Thus using the sensor is easy with any Arduino or microcontroller that supports I²C and almost immediately you'll have the temperature, pressure and altitude data printed in the serial console.
